OCD Forum - When OCD Tries to Return When Something We Perceive As Major Happens in Our Lives

19
Sometimes when something major happens in our lives we might tempted to revert back to our old OCD ways.
When things that you perceive as major occur, you may forget the new way that you learned to deal with things, especially if you just got over OCD.
Your brain will sometimes remember the temporary comfort that you got from performing a ritual and since the relief was so fast, sometimes your brain gets tempted to get that quick relief.
You must not give into it or you may end up back where you started with OCD or worse.
Instead say, "No.
" Say no to OCD and deal with it just like you learned how to deal with it the first time.
You must remember why you got over OCD in the first place.
Because you want to be free of it and you want to live a normal life not being haunted by your thoughts.
Remember the pain every time you think about reverting back to OCD and you will quickly realize that you don't want to have OCD again.
You'll realize how it's not worth it to perform just this one ritual.
As with any addiction, just with one leads to just two to just three etc.
What's really important for you to understand is that every time you say no to OCD, you get just a little bit stronger and then over time it will become easier and easier.
Take action: The next time that OCD tries to come back just when you thought you'd never experience it again, just say no so that you don't experience it again.
It might sound easy, and that's because in the big picture of things, it's easier to say no to OCD, then to suffer with it for years!
