Adenium Growing Zones
- Adenium is native to semi-arid climates, including those of sub-Saharan Africa and the Arabian peninsula. It grows well in places such as India and Thailand.
- Adenium grows in areas with a colder winter season, but it lose its leaves and enters dormancy during this period. It suffers freeze damage and death at temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. In such locations, desert rose grows well as a house plant, blooming in late summer or fall.
- Adenium performs well as an outdoor plant only in USDA plant hardiness zones 10 and 11, the southern-most portions of the United States, where winter temperatures fall below 35 degrees only briefly.
