Care of Vinyl Floor

11
    • 1). Vacuum the vinyl floor at least once a week or more if it is in a high-traffic area. This will remove grit that could scratch the vinyl surface. Do not use the beater brush when vacuuming the vinyl floor because it can scratch it.

    • 2). Soak up spills immediately so they do not have time to set. Use a sponge or a soft cloth to wipe up spills. Do not use scrub brushes.

    • 3). Mop the floor once a month with warm water. Fill a bucket or the sink with the warm water, dip a mop into the water and run the mop over the surface of the floor. Refill the bucket with clean, cool water and repeat the mopping to rinse. If the plain water does not remove stains, add 1 oz. of ammonia to 1 gallon of water and mop with that before rinsing. You can also use a vinyl floor cleaner provided by the manufacturer.

    • 4). Place nonstick floor mats at every entrance into the area with the vinyl floor. The mats will pick up sand and dirt and prevent people from tracking them onto the floor.

    • 5). Cover the bottom of your furniture legs with pads to prevent the furniture from indenting the flooring.
