How to Choose the Right Employment Solicitor For You

33
If you are facing employment law issues you are dealing with enough stress.
You need to find a solicitor that can provide you with answers, quickly and for a reasonable price.
Ask the following questions, receive the right answers and you will not go far wrong.
How Do You Find An Employment Law Expert? You no doubt want a solicitor that has proven expertise in dealing with employment law matters, but how can you tell who has this expertise? If you can find all or most of the following details, then you can be reasonably confident that they have sufficient experience in the area of employment law to be able to help you with your problem.
  • More  than one page on their website detailing their employment law services
  • Regularly updated website
  • Easy forms of contact
  • Free initial advice
Why do each of these items matter to you? Let's look at each one in turn to find out more.
The Solicitor's Website Whilst number of pages alone cannot prove that you have found the right solicitor for you, if they have more than one or two pages it does provide you with the opportunity to read the content and to discover whether they sound like a law firm that you would like to deal with.
Do they seem knowledgeable, friendly, experienced? You can gain a good understanding of the type of firm that they are by reading several pages in the employment section.
If you are only presented with one or two pages, how can you be confident that they have anymore than just a passing interest in employment law matters? Regularly Updated? If employment law is an important area of law for your potential solicitor, you can expect to find that there are regular updates within the section.
Is there a specific employment law articles section? Has this been updated within the last few months? If you can answer yes to these questions, you are one step closer to finding a solicitor with good employment law experience, but you cannot stop there.
There are other important questions to consider.
Easy Contact? Historically Solicitors have been renowned for being difficult to approach, but this should no longer be the case.
Solicitors are running a business just like everyone else, and this means that they must make it as easy as possible for new clients to contact them.
Do they? Do they provide a freephone telephone number, an email address, and an easy to complete enquiry form? Can you easily find a real postal address, or do they hide behind a general enquiry form with no postal address? If they provide all of these options, you can see that they are trying to make it as easy as possible for you to contact them.
Free Initial Telephone Advice? If you have made it this far you are doing well, you could have found the right solicitor to help you.
However, the final point is often the most important; do they offer free initial telephone advice? Some solicitors even now expect you to pay for all contact with them, but this is no longer sustainable.
You need to be confident that the solicitor you choose is easy to speak to and gives you the belief that they know what they are doing and will do all that they can to win your case for you.
If they will not even provide you with free initial telephone advice, how can you assess this? Move onto the next solicitor on the list if this criteria is not met.
Conclusion You need an expert employment law solicitor that is easy to contact and offers free initial telephone advice.
On top of all of this you need to be able to communicate with them easily.
If all of these criteria are met, you may well have found the right solicitor for your needs.
