20

    Handguns and Assault Rifles

    • The Navy SEALs use two different handguns; the MK23 Mod 0.45 caliber SOCOM Offensive Handgun, and the M11 Sig Sauer P228 (9mm). They also use an assault rifle known as the M4A1 (with SOPMOD Accessory Kit (5.56mm)). The MK23 handgun is larger than the Sig Sauer and more robust, though all weapons are rigorously tested, enduring extreme temperature tests, drop tests and firing endurance tests. The Sig Sauer is widely regarded as the favorite sidearm due to its compact and reliable nature and how easy it is to conceal. The M4A1 assault rifle is a multiuse rifle and staple firearm of the Navy SEALs. It is configurable for close-quarter and long-range combat alike.

    Sniper Rifles

    • The Navy SEALs use three sniper rifles; the M14 Sniper Rifle (7.62mm), MK11 Mod 0 Sniper Weapon System (7.62mm), and the M82A1 Heavy Sniper Rifle (.50 caliber). Sniper rifles are weapons used by soldiers to shoot targets that can be over a mile away. The M14 is gas-operated semi-automatic and capable of an effective range of 1,500 feet. The MK11 is a semi-automatic rifle, considered to be one of the finest weapons in the world of its type, capable of an effective range of 4,500 feet. The M82A1 heavy sniper rifle is a beast of a machine and has an effective range of 5,905 feet, and a maximum range of 22,309 feet!! That's four miles.

Submachine Guns, Machine Guns and Shotguns

    • When it comes to machine guns and shotguns the Navy SEALs are well equipped with the some of the most effective weapons available. The HK MP5 Submachine Gun (9mm) is a compact weapon used in close-quarter counter-terrorist scenarios like the storming of the Libyan embassy in London in 1980 by the SAS. The three machine guns the SEALs use are the M60E, the MK43 Mod 0 (7.62mm) and the M240 (7.62mm). The M60E is manufactured for all departments of the U.S. military, and the MK43 is very much the same, only a little more lightweight and with a different designation. The M240 is a heavy machine gun that can be mounted on tripods, vehicles or on aircraft and fires 950 rounds per minute. The Benelli M4 90 is the Navy SEAL's shotgun of choice, assembled in durable modules that are easily configurable in the field for different purposes, like attaching laser sights or night vision scopes or flashlights.

Grenade Launchers, Mortars, and Anti-Tank Rockets

    • The Navy SEALs use the M203 Grenade Launcher (40mm), the M224 Mortar (60mm), and the M136 AT4 Light Anti-Tank Rocket as their heavy artillery when dealing with enemies who are in armored and protected environments, like bunkers and tanks. The shells from these weapons can be launched from considerable distances and cause a huge amount of damage when they hit their targets directly.
