An Old Wives Tale for Keeping Bugs Out of Your Camper and Home Over the Winter!

31
If you're like me, you don't like to spray a lot of chemicals in your camper or home because of the smell and your kids and pets could get sick.
There is a folk tale I have heard over the years and that is "Hedge Apples" (also called Osage Oranges) are a natural rodent deterrent.
We use them ever year we can find them.
Last year we didn't go looking for the knobby green balls but we also notice many more spiders in our basement this spring.
We usually find the hedge apple trees along the creek or low lying areas that hold more moisture or if you wish you can order them.
They usually get rip around September or October depending on where you live.
These knobby looking green fruit seem to have a natural repellent for spiders & mice.
We put them on a paper plate and set them in the camper and around your stored camping gear in the basement or attic.
These are some comments from individuals that have tried using the hedge apples as a bug deterrent: We save potato sacks, the ones made out of mesh, and put 6 in each bag.
We hang them up in the room we wish to "debug" and everything just leaves.
I don't even see them go.
Then when it's time for new ones, we start to see spiders again.
Hedge apples can be found by a lot of creeks.
They hang from trees like oranges.
Try it and let me know your opinion!
