What Have Our Children Become?
The time it takes to give instruction to your children can be just a few encouraging moments of time but will have a lasting effect on them for the rest of their lives. It is important that when you give advice to your children, that you do not instruct them to something in which you don't follow the same advice.
Much of the time it is not what we say to our children, but what we do. You might be able to fool someone that does not love you or only sees you a short time. It is much different when you live with, or see, that person every day.
The Bible provides instruction to us in how we are to instruct our children, and in how to deal with everyday life. Any instruction given must have a specific purpose and goal so they will know why the guidance was given (Isaiah 38:19; Lamentations 2:19.)
Deuteronomy 4:9" Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons." These are time proven truths from the Bible.
Additionally, you should be equally interested in your child's education of English, math, and reading. Your child is the "apple of your eye" but, not necessarily that of other's (school districts). Where are your values, in a career, or your family? If it is the family, make sure you put your children first above all else. This means before "the career or yourself. "A family who prays together stays together" (home schooling can help).
Remember, that it's not what you say, it's what you do. By sending your children to schools that have different values than your own, you are asking for trouble. What if that district believes in an ideology of a non existence of God? Your Child will spend 6 to 8 hours a day with those who oppose you, and yet you think your child is not influenced by that school? It's not likely!
Just remember, if your children are not first in your life, do you think they will put you or God first in their life? Think about it!
