- Located in southeastern Yemen, Mukalla or Al Mukalla is a coastal city with over 1 million inhabitants. Mukalla, the capital city of the Hadhramaut province, was an important port in the Indian trade routes during the 18th century.The Indian influence is reflected in many buildings in the old town. With average temperatures of 83 degrees Fahrenheit, Mukalla's coast attracts scuba divers all year round. Most hotels are located in the city center, but some are found by the coast.
