ORV Trails in Gladwin, Michigan

      The state of Michigan has established an ORV trail/route system that runs for 3,200 miles across the state. Nearly three-quarters of the system is in state forests. The public system has trails for motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and off-road vehicles, as well as scramble areas. Trails get a light grooming and may include rough moguls, steep hills, narrow sand trails, rocks, stumps and loose surfaces.

    Gladwin Trail and Route

    • The Gladwin Trail and Route is located in Gladwin County and stretches for 20.8 miles. Some of the trail runs in conjunction with the North Gladwin section of the Michigan Cross Country Cycle Trail (MCCCT). Most of the trail is classified as an ATV trail. Off-road vehicles using the trail must be less than 50 inches in width, including off-road motorcycles. The Gladwin Trail connects with the Gladwin Route. This ORV Route is classified for ORV's of all sizes, including off-road motorcycles. A state Department of Natural Resources license (ORV sticker) is required. Parking for the trail is located along Center Fireline Trail. The state advises that there is two-way traffic along the trails and routes.

    M-30 North Gladwin MCCCT

    • The M-30 North Gladwin MCCCT (Michigan Cross Country Cycle Trail) is for motorcycles only and stretches for 21.8 miles. A Secretary of State license is required. The trail passes by numerous lakes and through the state forest Wildwood Campground. The state cautions motorcyclists to stay on signed trails only.

    M-30 to St. Helen #3 MCCCT

    • The M-30 to St. Helen #3 MCCCT (Michigan Cross Country Cycle Trail) is a connector trail between the M-30 North Gladwin MCCCT and the St. Helen Trail. This motorcycle trail runs for 14.5 miles and crosses from Gladwin County into neighboring Roscommon County.

    St. Helen Trail and Route

    • The St. Helen Trail in Roscommon County runs for 43.7 miles and overlaps the Michigan Cross Country Cycle Trail in some areas. This is an ATV trail and a state DNR license is required for use. Off-road vehicles must be less than 50 inches in width, including off-road motorcycles. An ORV sticker is required. The St. Helen Trail connects with the St. Helen Route, which is an nine-mile ORV Route. ORV's of all sizes are allowed but must be properly licensed. Parking is available at trailheads along South St. Helen Road and Meridian Road. Be aware there is two-way traffic along the trails and routes.
