How to Adjust the Action on a Floyd Rose Electric Guitar
- 1). Locate both mounting studs at the front of the bridge and determine the stud's head type. Some Floyd Rose models use slotted studs to accommodate standard flat-head screwdrivers, while others employ hex bolts to accommodate a 3mm hex wrench.
- 2). Insert the screwdriver or hex wrench onto one of the mounting studs and rotate approximately 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn clockwise to lower the action; rotate counterclockwise to raise the action.
- 3). Insert the screwdriver or hex wrench onto the opposite mounting stud and rotate approximately 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn clockwise to lower the action; rotate counterclockwise to raise action. Work slowly and incrementally so that both studs are raised or lowered to the same relative height.
- 4). Check the string action by playing the guitar. Make further adjustments as needed until the action is to your liking.
