When visiting Turkey of course most people will like to spend time at the beach. But it is a good idea to know when the best times of the year to go are otherwise you may find yourself having to find other things to do because it is simply too cold to sit and soak up the sun on one of Turkey's beaches.

When it comes to visiting Turkey in order to laze around on the beach then the best months to go are between May and October. Up until about June and after August the water will be a little chilly but it will help to cool you down.

Even though the beaches in Turkey are wonderful they certainly do not compare with those you would expect to say find in the Caribbean or Pacific. These beaches tend to be made up either of very coarse sand or pebbles so wearing some sort of footwear is recommended.

Plus these types of beaches as with those you find on Spain's Costa del Sol don't offer much in the way of shade. So if you want to get out of the sun for a while make sure that you bring some sort of sun shade with you. You will probably find that shops local to where you are staying will have these for sale. Plus of course you could always go and find a bar or restaurant to sit in for a few hours when the sun is at it's hottest.

Even though this is a Muslim country that follows the religion very closely, generally it is not frowned upon when tourists choose to topless on the beach. However, it would still be a good idea to check and see if anybody else has chosen to do so before you strip down.
