Time to Think About Stretching Your Mental Muscle

23
In a prior life, when I was much younger, back in college when I was a track star the coach didn't want anyone pulling a muscle or suffering an injury, nor did the school, as they had invested a lot of money in all of us athletes.
I guess in a way we were their prize race horses.
Anyway, as a former race horse, ha ha ha, you begin to think a little bit differently about keeping your body in tune.
Now then, our coach made us do grueling work outs, at times I felt as if he was trying to kill us, or torture us to see how long it took for us to meet our demise.
However one thing kept us from injury, he made us stretch out and warm up at least 15-20 minutes before practice every day.
Well, consider this, now in retirement I run a think tank, and I meet some incredibly brilliant folks, mentally alert in every way.
Now then, they remind me of those athletes I ran with who went on to make the Olympic team to compete at the International Level.
That is to say they take their brainpower seriously, they never stop thinking.
They exercise their mental muscle all the time, often picking a topic they know nothing about, just to learn something new.
They also feed their brain with brain foods, and engage in intellectual discourse at every turn.
Over the last six months I've considered the analogy that they are stretching their mental muscle, just like I used to do in track back in college.
Well, guess what, whatever you want to call what they are doing, it's working and let me tell you some of these folks are as smart or smarter than everyone you've ever met.
Seriously! Okay so, how might this benefit you? Well, you know what they say, if you want to do great in something find those who are at the top tier and emulate them.
Why not work out your brain every single day, just as folks work out their bodies, and go to the gym.
They say; "if you don't use it you lose it," and therefore it makes sense to strengthen your brain, eat the right foods, and stretch your mental muscle early and often.
Why not do what we used to do for 15 to 20 minutes a day before track practice, stretch your brain muscle, and just engage in brainy activities.
Please consider all this and think on it.
