What Is a Laboratory Apparatus?
- Every laboratory should be equipped with an eye wash and safety shower. Should materials or chemicals enter the eye, the eye wash is used to rinse them. If hazardous or caustic materials come into contact with clothing, the safety shower is activated to rinse them as well.
- The most commonly recognized pieces of laboratory apparatus include measuring devices. Beakers, graduated cylinders, graduated pipettes, burettes and volumetric flasks measure liquids and volumes. pH meters measure solution acidity, thermometers measure temperature and balances measure material mass.
- Scientists frequently analyze very small, fine or delicate pieces of matter. During analysis, they utilize apparatus including test tubes, forceps, centrifuges, droppers, tongs and tweezers.
