How to Run Speaker Wires Across Power Wiring
- 1). Determine the location of the speaker installation. Drill a 1/2-inch hole in each stud crossing the AC power lines.
- 2). Punch out the side hole in the low-voltage junction box. Hammer the box onto the stud nearest the final speaker installation location, using the hammer and galvanized nails.
- 3). Route the speaker wires from the head end (wire origination point) to the plastic junction box. Run the wires through the holes, always maintaining a 90-degree angle along the wire's path.
- 4). Coil as much wire as required to reach the speaker or volume control.
