How to Install Memory in a Satellite Laptop
- 1). Turn the power off to your Toshiba Satellite laptop. Unplug the power cable from the computer and the power outlet. Unplug any devices connected to your laptop.
- 2). Turn the Satellite upside down. Slide the release latch on the side of the battery then move the battery slightly out of place. Let go of the release latch. Slide the secondary release latch on the opposite side to release the battery completely. Remove the battery and set it aside.
- 3). Locate the memory access cover near the rear right side of the laptop. Loosen the screw in the memory cover with a Phillips screwdriver and lift the cover off the laptop.
- 4). Attach the clip on an anti-static strap to a strip of bare metal near your work area. Place the strap around one of your wrists. Remove the new memory stick from the static-protective packaging and insert it into the open slot in the memory module compartment at a 30-degree angle.
- 5). Press down on the top edge of the memory module until it locks into place inside the tabs. Replace the cover on the memory compartment. Tighten the screw with a Phillips screwdriver. Insert the battery into the battery compartment until it clicks, locking into place.
- 6). Turn the Satellite upright. Reconnect the power cord and other device cables.
