How to Play an Ab Chord

9
    • 1). Lay your first finger, or pointer finger, over all the strings on the fret board just above the fourth fret. You want to hold the strings down as close to the edge of the fourth fret, as you can to achieve a clean sound. This can be a bit difficult and will need practice to get a clean sound with minimal buzzing.

    • 2). Place your second finger, or middle finger, on the G string on the fretboard just above the fifth fret. The G string is the third thinnest string.

    • 3). Put your third finger, or ring finger, on the A string on the fretboard just above the sixth fret. The A string is the second thickest string.

    • 4). Put your pinky finger on the D string on the fretboard just above the sixth fret. The D string is the third thickest string.

    • 5). Play each string while holding the chord to isolate where you may be getting a dead or buzzing sound. Readjust your fretting hand and fingers to achieve a more clean sound, without so much buzzing. Also check your hand to make sure it is only touching the strings that need to be touched.

    • 6). Strum all the strings to play the Ab chord.
