First of all: kidney stones can be caused by different conditions, an unbalanced diet is just one of them. Before you adopt any new diet, it is absolutely necessary to see a doctor in order to determine what kind of stones you have and what causes them.

1. Drink plenty of water! It will help your body to dissolve the crystals that consequently will form kidney stones later.

2. Don't take high doses of Vitamin C. (like more than 500 mg per day) as it might result in high levels of oxalate in the urine. Oxalate is one of the substances that provokes stones. It is a good idea to have a high intake of Vitamin - but get it the natural way: Kiwis, Citrus fruit, red pepper, there are lots of delicious alternatives to pills!

3. New research has shown, that in addition of cutting back on calcium, it is a good idea to avoid too much salt and animal protein. Try to eat meat only two to four times a week only and watch your intake of eggs. No more than three a week (including the ones in pastry and other processed food).

4. To determine the adequate amount of calcium is somewhat tricky. You want to consume enough calcium to maintain the strength of your bones, but not too much, so it doesn't accumulate in your kidneys. 6. Avoid too much sugar. Studies have shown that sugar (employed while preparing meals or in highly processed food) increase the possibility of developing kidney stones.

Kidney stones are an extremely painful condition. The bad news: if you have had them once, there is a good chance you will get them again. The good news: there are quite a few things you can do in order to avoid the building up of new stones. And there are actually very simple home remedies that can help you dissolve and pass existing stones pain free.
