Guide Review - Show Me How - Lorrie Morgan
Lorrie Morgan is back with a new release from Image Entertainment. 'Show Me How' is a collection of songs that seem to correspond directly with where Lorrie in her life now, or deal with where she came from.
"Do You Still Want To Buy Me That Drink (Frank)" is about being a single mother and what it means to your social life. "Used" is classic Lorrie Morgan. It is a slow tempo song showcasing her incredible vocal talent. "Bombshell" is a tongue in cheek song about how hard and expensive it is for a "Bombshell" to age. "Charlie and Betty" was my favorite song on the album. Lorrie penned the song herself and it is a real tearjerker. Alison Krauss and Rhonda Vincent sang backup for Lorrie on this one and the ladies did a wonderful job with it. With all the hype Lorrie has received lately, "Rocks" is a perfect close to the album. It says, "let those without sin cast the first stone."
Overall, I enjoyed this album. The best description I can really come up with is 'elegance with a casual style.' All the songs on the album seem to have a personal meaning for Lorrie and she is just having fun with them. She experiments with different sounds and there is a full range of music. All the way from a slow, moody ballad done in true Lorrie style and elegance, to a rousing song chastising a potential date for not looking beyond her single parent status that Lorrie just lets loose on.
She just seems to have a different overall sound or attitude with her latest project.
