Children and teens benefit from daily or overnight summer camps near Calvert County, Maryland. There are camps that offer intellectual stimulation, those that emphasize recreational and physical fitness opportunities, or those that focus on drama, arts and crafts completion. All camps encourage social interaction between the campers. Every summer the University of Maryland offers week-long, day-camp programs that run the gamut from educational to recreational. Campers can attend a flute master class, focus on a state 4-H teen program, participate in a Shakespeare camp or join in a summer chorus camp. Athletes can experience lacrosse, basketball, volleyball, wrestling and football camps. The University offers camp experiences for children of all ages. All of the instructors are qualified and many classes use the university's sports, education and physical activity facilities. The campus is about 30 minutes northeast of Calvert County.

Kamp A-Kom-Plish offers campers the choice to stay overnight or participate on a daily basis. Daily activities include swimming, horseback riding, creative arts and more. The Terrific Teen program is geared to campers ages 13 to 18 and focuses on team building and leadership development. The teens also help with younger campers. An equestrian camp allows campers to have daily riding lessons, learn basic horsemanship and explore different types of riding. Other activities include a ropes course and climbing wall, archery range, volleyball and basketball. The campus is located about 30 miles west of Calvert County.

The county offers weekly summer camps every year focused on different themes. The day camps welcome kids ages 3 to 15, separated into different programs. The 3-to-5-year-olds attend a half-day program focuses on keeping cool with water play, trips to a "sprayground," and outings to the swimming pool at Cove Point Park. Elementary and middle-school-aged children attend camps centered on different day trips including a skate park, movie theater, bowling, swimming and golf. A special outing to an amusement park is also part of the summer program. Teen campers are on the move with trips to the Baltimore Aquarium, Washington D.C., the Calvert Theater and more.
