How to Replace a Car Stereo in a Trailblazer
- 1). Remove the two screws on the underside of the cowl of the gauge cluster. To find these, put your finger on the speedometer and follow it up to the top of the cluster. The underside of the cowl contains two screws holding this part of the dash in place.
- 2). Remove all of the screws on the center console.
- 3). Wedge the trim-removal tool underneath the center console trim and pry up on the trim. You'll need to work your way all around the trim, including around the gauge cluster, as this is all one piece.
- 4). Pull the trim off.
- 5). Remove the four screws holding the stereo in place in the dash.
- 6). Remove the electrical connector that powers the HVAC controls and the head unit.
- 7). Remove the antenna plug.
- 8). Install the new stereo, plug the antenna and electrical wiring in, secure the stereo to the dash and reassemble the trim to the dash. Installation is the reverse of removal.
