How to Send Signals From PCs to TVs

18
    • 1). Turn the computer off. This step is not mandatory but will save you time as the computer needs to boot up with the TV connected in order to display the computer's images on the TV. If you connect the TV to the computer without first turning the computer off, you will have to restart the computer which means you will have to wait for the computer to shut down and then wait for it to reboot.

    • 2). Choose a cable type that is compatible with both your TV and computer. There are several connection options that require different cables to send signals from a computer to a TV. If you have an HD TV, use an HDMI cable. If you have a digital TV, your TV should have a DVI port and therefore use a DVI cable. If you have an older, non digital, non HD TV you will need to use an S cable. Both the HDMI and DVI cables are simple to plug in, but special attention needs to be used on the S cable as it must be positioned in the right direction to be plugged in and should never be forced into the port as this can cause damage to the plug.

    • 3). Plug the one-headed end of the 3.5 audio/RCA cable into the green audio-out port of the computer and plug the red plug into the red port and the white plug into the white port of the audio-in section of the TV. Skip this step if you are using either HDMI or DVI cables as both these connections transfer both audio and video signals.

    • 4). Press the power button on the computer to start the booting process and turn the TV to video mode. As the computer boots, it will recognize the TV and will send its signals over to the TV to be displayed.
