15
    • 1). Replace the batteries if they fail to work. Perform a remote test if it continues to malfunction by removing the batteries. Then, press every button on the remote, one at a time for two seconds each. Ensure that it is operated within 23 feet from the recorder. If the re-test if unsuccessful, you will need to purchase a new remote.

    • 2). Ensure that the yellow, white and red connecting cords on your Toshiba DVD recorder are secured if there is no audio or picture. If the connections are secure, check the digital output setting of the recorder by pressing the "Set Up" button on the remote. Use the "Up" and "Down" arrow keys to select the "Audio" section and press "Enter." Press the right "Arrow" key to select the digital output setting and press "Enter." If there is no sound after the setting, reset the recorder by unplugging the power cord for two to three minutes.

    • 3). Ensure your DVD discs are clean with no scratches. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean.

    • 4). Check to see if your discs are compatible (i.e., a DVD-R disc) if it fails to record. The device will not record if the disc is in the wrong region code.

    • 5). If recording fails, a power failure may have occurred, the program may have contained copy protection, the timer recording may have overlapped with another recording or the disc space was possibly insufficient.

    • 6). Change the language subtitles using the Toshiba DVD recorder's menu if the subtitles cannot be changed or turned off.

    • 7). Check if there is a disc in the device to get the recorder out of "Progressive Mode." Press the "Progressive" button on the remote.

    • 8). Wait a few seconds for the disc tray to open after you have recorded or edited a disk when you press "Open/Close." Reset the recorder by unplugging it from the main socket for two to three minutes.

    • 9). Unplug the recorder if static electricity causes the device to malfunction.
