How to Connect Your Desktop to Your TV

11
    • 1). Find the S-Video output on your desktop computer and the S-Video input on your television. Most newer televisions have this input. If yours doesn't, then you won't be able to connect your computer. Use the S-Video cable to connect the two. If you need to purchase an S-Video cable, then make sure it's long enough to reach from your computer to your television.

    • 2). On your desktop computer, right click on your background, go into Properties and click on "Display Settings". With your television plugged in, a second monitor will now show up in the icons. Click on the command to mirror the images on your computer and television. (This specific command name differs with the type of computer and operating system you use.) Click "Apply" and "OK". Now, whatever is seen on your desktop will be on your television set.

    • 3). On your television, go to the input reserved for your S-Video. Depending on the TV, this will either be labeled "S-Video" or one of the numbered input choices you have. If it's the latter, then cycle through the inputs on your remote control until you come across a mirror image of what's on your computer.

    • 4). On your computer, start whatever media you want to play, either in a media player or a browser. When it is playing, expand the image to the full screen. It will now be playing on your television, but if you want to pause it or turn on something new, then you'll have to use your desktop keyboard. At this point, if you want to remove your computer monitor and simply use your television screen as your monitor, you can. You might just want to obtain a wireless keyboard and mouse to make navigating the screen easier.
