Golf Tip - How to Increase the Power of Your Driver

8
Golfers have simple needs, male golfers anyway.
We do not need to make the perfect swing or win the world long driving championship on every tee.
We only need to hit the ball farther than the other three guys we are playing with.
This article is about a simple golf tip that you can put to use the very next time you play, and you can do it without any practice.
Since we are talking about energy and power, let's define them.
Energy equals one half times the mass of the object times the square of the speed of the object.
What that gobbledygook means to a golfer standing on the first tee is that the faster the clubhead is moving and the more of the mass of the driver that comes in contact with the ball - the farther the ball will fly down the fairway, It's the law.
Where Most Golfers Lose Power One of the big reasons that casual golfers and high handicappers hit slices and weak tee shots is that they sway during their swing.
Most times you will not even notice it.
A sway is when you move your hips and knees in sync with the clubhead on the backswing.
Once you reach the top and start your full swing you then have to move your hips and knees forward to stay in balance.
Since the clubhead only makes contact with the golf ball for the tiniest fraction of a second all that extra movement swaying back and forth almost guarantees that you will not put the center of mass of the clubhead on the golf ball.
That new Ping G10 driver of yours was carefully designed and constructed to achieve maximum effectiveness on one little sweet spot on the clubface.
When you miss the sweet spot you violate the law and end up with a weak drive or a slice.
The easy advice is to just stop swaying and you will increase the power of your golf swing, but that is hard to do, because for the most part you are probably not even aware that you are doing it.
One commonly recommended drill to eliminate swaying is to practice on the driving range while standing on a golf ball positioned on the outside of your right, or back foot.
This drill forces you to keep your weight on the inside of your back foot making it impossible to sway.
If you practice this drill enough times you will learn to keep your golf swing centered around your core.
Use This Tip Without Going To The Range Here is a tip you can use without going to the range.
I learned it from a Golden Gloves boxer.
This guy was in his seventies at the time but still in pretty good shape.
He never took a golf lesson in his life.
He only played golf a couple times a year and couldn't chip or putt or get out of a sand trap without reconstructing the golf course, but oh lordy could this man hit a golf ball.
Since he was out-bombing my drives on every hole I asked him why somebody who never played golf could hit the ball so darn far.
Here is what he told me.
I learned to box by working off my big toes.
It always kept my body weight centered, kept me balanced over my feet, and added power to my punches.
I just figured that I could do the same thing swinging a golf club.
Give it a try.
You need a trigger to start your swing anyway so why not start by pushing your big toes into the ground and keeping them there until you complete the follow-through? You'll find yourself automatically keeping your body weight centered while swinging your arms and upper torso around your center of mass.
When you do that you automatically increase the probability of putting your driver sweet spot on the golf ball and add power to your drive.
By staying centered over your core that you will also increase your swing speed.
