The Palace on Wheels lives by its name and is no less than an experience of royal opulence and splendour.   The lavish lifestyle, the facilities, the décor, the comfort and the style have made the Palace-On-Wheels a tourist train which most cherish to travel and enjoy the comforts.  The Royal Orient offers both style and comfort.  The Royal Orient of India happens to be one of the most exotic trains in the world. It is a joint venture managed by the Indian Railways and the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited.  The Train passes though a string of tourist spots with the reminiscence of the royal extravagance of the bygone era including Delhi, Chittaurgarh, Junagarh, Veraval, Somnath, Sasan Gir, Ahmedpur, Mandvi/Palitana/ Sarkhej, Ahmedabad and Jaipur.

Apart from the Royal trains, the Indian Railways has arranged tourism facilities via the toy trains of India.  The toy trains have attracted many a tourist.  They are so called because the toy train runs on the narrow-gauge tracks.  These trains run a distance of 4500 kilometers through the popular hill stations of the country like Shimal, Darjeeling, Ooty/ Udagamandalam or Ootacamund and Matheran.  The Matheran Light Railway is another tourist attraction in India. This tiny mountain train starts its journey from Neral and is well connected by Mumbai suburban trains.  In this track the rail and road play hide and seek with each other and the panoramic view add yet another epic dimension to the excitement of the journey.
