How to Win a Bid on Priceline

12
    • 1). Compare competing price and discount airline websites to gauge low fares. If possible, enter flexible dates in your search and check various surrounding airports for the cheapest options. Tuesday, Wednesday and sometimes Saturday flights are often cheaper than flying on peak travel days, such as Fridays and Sundays.

    • 2). Enter your chosen departure and arrival cities and dates of travel on Priceline.com based on your research of other sites. Click "next" to see a list of airlines and prices.

    • 3). Choose the "Name your own price" link to enter the bidding section of the website.

    • 4). Choose the airports Priceline identifies as currently offering the best fares. When asked to select alternative airports, choose "no." This gives you the option to re-bid, if your bid is not accepted, using alternative airports as options. If you choose all the airports suggested, you will have to wait 24 hours to make another bid.

    • 5). Choose your bidding price. BidOnTravel.com suggests bidding 15 percent to 20 percent lower than the lowest price you found on other websites, if there are not many flights available or if the low price is less than $380. They suggest bidding at least 30 percent lower than the low price if the flight is more than $380 and there are an abundance of seats available.

    • 6). Click the "next" button to find out, usually in 60 seconds or less, if your bid was accepted.

    • 7). Use alternative dates or additional airports to re-bid immediately if your bid is not accepted.
