People watch boxing matches for a variety of reasons.
Some watch it for the sweet science that it is: all the ducking, turning, feinting and artistic skill that some boxers possess can really leave a person's jaw on the floor.
Others watch it for the amazing display of courage and desire.
There have been stories of overmatched boxers who won their matches on sheer grit and determination.
But let's face it, a lot of us watch boxing to see two amazing athletes beat the hell out of one another.
We all love the flying mouthpieces, the thundering right hooks and most especially the spectacular knockouts that this sport produces! A knockout is to boxing as a slam dunk is to basketball or a home run is to baseball.
It's boxing's signature occurrence and a lot of people remember fights on the quality of the knockout.
And these are some of the most memorable knockouts in boxing history: -Lennox Lewis vs Hasim Rahman, 2001: This is one of the most thunderous knockouts in the illustrious career of Lennox Lewis.
He had just been knocked out by the underdog Rahman in their previous encounter and was out for vengeance.
After a classic display of heavyweight action in the first few rounds, the 4th saw Lewis connecting with a devastating right to send Rahman to sleep and give fight fans one of the most photographed knockout shots ever.
-Floyd Patterson vs Ingemar Johansson: These two evenly matched competitors were equal in almost every respect.
They were the best fighters of their respective continents, with both coming to represent their countries in the Olympics.
Their storied rivalry resulted in Johansson knocking Patterson down 7 times in a single round in their first fight to become the first European heavyweight champion in a long time.
Their second fight however, saw Patterson put the hammer down in the fifth round to knock out Johansson and regain his championship.
