I just completed a seven day cruise with Norwegian Sun. I am a avid cruiser and so I was curious about the freestyle type cruising.
Three of the ports were wonderful. Roatan, Belize and Cozumel (with Stirrup Cay, Bahamas thrown in there but I don't consider this a port,it's ridiculous.) Getting on board our ship and receiving our luggage was a dream!
Impressed right off the bat!
Unfortunately it was short lived. The service was terrible at the restaurants and the food left a lot to be desired as well. The buffets shut down at the most inopportune times, too.
The Belize port was a nightmare!! Trying to get a tender so that we could make our shore excursions didn't happen. Half the people missed their shore excursions. I stood in the background watching as the Norwegian Sun's employees were tendered to shore before the guests. It was horrible! Little kids standing around for hours waiting while the parents knew the shore excursions they had planned for their children weren't going to happen.
Our whole cruise was planned around Scuba diving for my daughter who is ten years old. She had just got certified and the whole trip was so that she could enjoy what she had worked so hard to accomplish. I had to plan these dives outside of the cruise line because of her age (they say 12), but we still missed our excursion because they didn't get us to land soon enough.
The next day I had a spa appointment. I had decided to try the Detox Wrap. I paid almost two hundred dollars for this treatment which is okay, but I spent 30 Minutes of it listening to a sales pitch on their products by the attendant. I wanted to relax and enjoy a treatment, but instead left frustrated and couldn't wait to get the heck out of there. There were so many things that were just so unpleasant about this cruise line. I will never cruise Norwegian again.
