How to Bleach Natural Linen

36

    Bleach

    • 1). Fill a bucket with one part bleach to five parts water. Stir gently while wearing gloves.

    • 2). Dip your fabric into the bleach solution. Stir to make sure the solution disperses evenly. Let the linen soak as you monitor the lightening.

    • 3). Once the linen reaches your desired whiteness, place the fabric under cool running water to stop the bleaching process. Or, you can keep a second tub of water nearby to rinse your linen once the bleaching is done.

    • 4). Spot treat with more bleach as needed. Launder the linen as usual.

    Lemons

    • 1). Slice four lemons into thick wedges. Discard any seeds. Leave the lemons slices intact; do not squeeze out the juice.

    • 2). Fill a large stock pot two-thirds of the way with water. Toss in the lemon slices, peel and all. Bring the water to a rolling boil, then turn off the stove.

    • 3). Place your linen in the lemon water. Stir gently to make sure the fabric is fully submerged. Let it soak for at least one hour, stirring occasionally so the lemon water disperses evenly.

    • 4). Remove the linen from the water. Stain treat it as needed, then wash and dry the fabric as usual.
