Parking Meters For Councils - Darwin City Nt
After trialling 3 alternative brands over three years, Darwin City Council had purchased 281 Parkeon Parking Meters in the last 12 months. With a total of 327 Meters situated around the Darwin CBD these consist of 301 Parkeon Meters and 26 PSA Meters. Using the Parkfolio communications system, this allows update downloads for the Parking Meter network such as tariff changes and integration with other systems such as cellphone payment and vehicle detection. The Parkfolio system provides an easy to read dashboard for management staff containing information such as transaction activity, pay station maintenance and up to date collection data. The standard display incorporates easy to read tabulated live information which allows management to identify which Meters need priority attention.
Though Darwin has very high humidity and temperatures for 6 months of the year, since installing Parkeon Meters they have performed well above expectations with 99.9% uptime. Alternative branded Meters required maintenance staff to change ticket rolls from paper to poly-paper in the Wet Season from October to May. This was to overcome ticket jams when printing. This was not a problem for Parkeon Meters which required no changeover as the standard paper used absorbs moisture. The electronic coin selector is also another exclusive feature of Parkeon Meters. Using an intuitive system, it will not accept any inappropriate coins or foreign objects, which in turn, prevents jams. This is further supported by an already low rate of coin jams in Parkeon Meters which cannot be said for other brands.

Darwin City Council recommends APARC as the preferred supplier for parking meters.
