Photography Tips - Nothing to Photograph? How Would Someone Else See It?

28
When you were a child, what was the world like? Wasn't everything a bit more magical when you were little? Later as a teen life probably seemed more confusing and perhaps oppressive.
Everything was about the rules and preparing for the future.
As we progress or develop from baby to adult to elderly and all the stages in between, our point of view also changes therefore we see things differently.
As visual artists and as photographers (not all photographers are artists nor are all artists photographers) we automatically see life through the view finder or thumbnail screen from that limited perspective of where we are "now" however we don't have to limit ourselves to that at all.
Through awareness and effort to consider the subject, the situation, and the world around us, we can get a greater level of inspiration and a higher quality of photograph for use in/as art or as snapshots to share with family and friends.
Try this experiment: When you go on your next inspiration walk ask a stranger what they see then ask another in generally the same place.
You will most likely get very different answers.
Also ask them what was the first thing they saw.
We are all attracted to very different things and in different ways.
Don't disregard height in point of view! A little child sees life with everything towering over him.
The world is a curious and dangerous place while thoughts of home are thoughts of Mom.
How does your relative height change how you see things? Our points of view also change according to the country and region we live in.
If you have spent all your life in the same country then you really should find a way to take a month and experience another country and hopefully another language.
That doesn't mean you go and stay in a beach resort! I mean really go and experience life visit places, meet people, try different food, etc.
What is everyday life like for people there? When you go back home, integrate that in your photography and photo art.
I notice so much when I look at most people's photographs of flowers.
They are mostly photos of the flowers from directly above them yet I wonder how much better those photos might be if the photographer thought as an artist and took the photo from the perspective of a bee or perhaps an ant! What would that flower's thoughts of life be? Mix it up and consider your subject from different perspectives.
Get inspired by taking on different points of view with your camera!
