How to See My Bankruptcy Case Online in Las Vegas
- 1). Gather your information. Before you go online to look up your case, you should gather all of the relevant information. First, find your case number, as that is the number you will use to locate your case once online. To find your case number, look at any pleading or notice you have received with regard to your case. It should be in the upper right corner and consist of two digits (the last two digits of the year your case was filed) followed by five digits (the first digit signifying where your case was filed and four digits generated at random). The case number should be near the judge's name on the document.
- 2). Go to the website for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nevada (see Resources). From that website, you can link to PACER. Click on the link on the left side that states "Case Information." Scroll down and click the middle link that says Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER).
- 3). Register for PACER. Once you access the PACER website, click on the link for "PACER -- Case Search Only Registration." The site has no registration fee. However, it will charge you $.08 per page you view. To create a PACER account, you must enter personal information such as name, address, telephone number and email address. You also must enter your credit card information so you can be charged as you access pages.
- 4). Search your case. Once you have registered for PACER, you can search for your case by entering your case number. From PACER, you can access your case's docket. The docket lists all documents or pleadings that have been filed by the date in which they were filed.
