Divorce In The Eyes Of A Child

25
Men and women get to know each other, meet frequently, date, sometimes fall in love, get married, have children and live happily ever after.
However, they sometimes fight over something or another, separate and get divorced.
Each partner has a different point of view about the reason and the effect of divorce.
Each partner might plan for his/her future life and the future of the kids as well, depending on what he/she finds most suitable and convenient.
Both partners might also agree on different steps of a divorce procedure as well as about the major features of the future family life of their kids such as where and with whom the children will live, covering their expenses and so on and so forth.
Yet the children may have a completely different opinion from both parents.
In fact what matters for a child more than where he/she is going to live and who is going to cover his/her school expenses or take him/her to and back from school is the fact of missing the warmth in that union he/she used to call My Family.
The fact of having to change some of his/her habits and ways of life and worrying about not being able to cope with the absence of one parent or the fact of not trusting a single parent to ensure a stable family life.
Worrying about a possible divorce of the parents may harm kids much deeply than divorce itself.
Therefore, it's of a great importance that parents resort to psychologists before talking to their children about an imminent divorce in order to keep them away of such worries.
How a child saw his parents' divorce in a poem: In your eyes, a glow, I saw Made me see midnight as dawn Maybe the smile hiding your grief Made me hope for some relief Maybe it was a childish belief That parents should always agree In your hand a suitcase I didn't see I saw in the other a handkerchief It was only when I felt your tears Falling unwillingly on my cheeks That came up all my old fears A friend of mine told the story in brief He said that parents though mature Are not always of their feelings so sure They can fall in love and even engage Give birth to children, then suddenly change because of monotony or a storm of rage They let kids face life alone, at any age!
