DIY Fabric Transfers
- 1). Place the transfer paper into the printer so the side that feels coated in plastic is printed on.
- 2). Click "File" and "Print" to open the printer dialogue box. Choose the "Page Layout" tab. Locate the small box that says "Mirror Image" toward the top right. Make sure this box is clicked when printing letters or numbers. Make sure it's not clicked for all other images.
- 3). Click the "Main" tab and click on the down arrow beside the "Media" label. Choose a transfer option if available. If no transfer option is available, use "Plain Paper". Print the image of your choice onto the transfer paper.
- 1). Turn the iron to it's highest setting. Don't add water to the iron and don't use the steam option.
- 2). Trim the excess paper from the transfer image with scissors.
- 3). Lay the fabric face up on an ironing board and position the transfer image down on the fabric where you want the image to be.
- 4). Press the iron onto the transfer with a firm weight and hold for approximately 20 seconds. Lift the iron, move it over so it's slightly overlapping the first area and repeat. Continue this process until the entire fabric transfer has been heated.
- 5). Iron with firm pressure all the way around the edges of the transfer so the edges are fully secured.
- 6). Wait for the fabric and the transfer to fully cool. Slowly peel the paper off of the iron transfer. Watch to see if the transfer tries to lift off with the paper, if it does, lay the paper back down and iron again, using more pressure.
