How to Grease Door Hinges
- 1). Knock out one of the door's hinge pins by placing the tip of a nail on the open end and tapping it through gently with a claw hammer. If it becomes difficult to tap the pin out, use the claw back of the hammer to pry it out from the top.
- 2). Wipe the entire hinge and hinge pin clean of grease and debris with paper towels.
- 3). Squeeze a small bead of silicone grease onto your index finger and spread the lubricant all over the pin.
- 4). Reinsert the tip of the pin into the hinge and tap it back into place gently with the hammer.
- 5). Wipe the excess grease from the outside of the hinge with a paper towel.
- 6). Test the function of the door by swinging it open and closed before moving on to grease any remaining hinges one at a time.
