Whether it is Father's Day or his birthday, nothing makes a dad happier than receiving gifts from his children. Help your child choose a craft project that can easily be customized into a special gift for Dad. Allow your children to be involved in the entire process from buying the materials to creation. Assist them in finding a craft project that they would be comfortable creating on their own, under the supervision of an adult. - Children can create a personalized paperweight for Dad's desk. Go hunting for a smooth rock and then wash and dry it. Choose a bright color acrylic paint and paint the whole rock. Add lettering like "Dad Rocks" with some glitter glue and outline it with a marker. An adult can assist with the final sealing with acrylic sealer paint.
- Proclaim your love for your father through decorated artwork. Paint on custom messages like "Number One Dad," "World's Best Dad" or "Love You, Dad" on banners, posters, cards or pennants, using acrylic paint.
- Older kids can make use of web-based photo creation sites like Snapfish and Shutterfly to upload family photos and create photo books, photo mugs and other such personalized gifts for Dad.
- Your child can customize golf towels, or T-shirts for Dad. Have your child choose his favorite color fabric paint and help him buy a hand towel or a plain T-shirt. Then make use of the fabric paint and help your child make a handprint on the fabric. Add a saying like, "I'm here to lend a helping hand."
- Buy a hammer with a wooden handle and scrape off the outer coating. Paint the handle a layer of white. Once that dries, use paint and markers to decorate the handle and monogram your Dad's initials. With adult supervision, apply a sealer and allow your creation to dry.
