How to Build a Bug Catcher
- 1). Prepare the cups, and set one of them aside. Take the other cup and cut out the bottom. You should begin your cut about an inch up from the bottom and cut all the way around in order to remove the bottom from the cup. Smooth out the cut edge of the cup at the bottom to make it as flat and even as possible.
- 2). Cut a four by four inch square from the netting that you have purchased. Take the square piece of netting, and press it into the opening of the cut cup and gently press it against the glue along the bottom edge. If there are any gaps or openings close them with additional glue.
- 3). Put approximately two tablespoons of glue on the paper plate. Dip the cut edge of the cup that you have removed the bottom from into the glue, making sure that the entire rim of the cup makes contact with the glue. Then gently place the cup inside of the uncut cup.
- 4). Allow time for the bug catcher to dry for at least 30 minutes, possibly longer to allow for more stability. Once the glue is dry and the net is securely fastened with no gaps or open spaces, use the scissors to cut away the excess netting that is exposed above the top rim of the cup.
