How to Tie a Coiled Fishing Knot
- 1). Pass the line through the eye of the hook or lure. Pull approximately three inches of line through the eye.
- 2). Coil the end of the line around itself, beginning just above the eye of the hook.
- 3). Complete between four and five coils. While five coils is the norm, four coils will work for heavier line. The thickness of heavier lines may make it difficult to form five coils.
- 4). Push the coils down toward the eye of the hook or lure so that there is no space between each coil.
- 5). Pass the end of the line through the space between the top of the hook and first coil.
- 6). Pass the end of the line back through the new loop. The new loop is created on the side of the coils once the line passes between the hook and the first coil.
- 7). Pull the end of the line through the hook while sliding the coils tight against the eye of the hook or lure. Trim excess from the end of the line, using a fishing line cutter.
