Psychic Readings - The Shocking Truth About The People Who Love Them

9
Just why are psychic readings so popular, anyway? Is it because (like P.
T.
Barnum famously quipped) there's a sucker born every minute? Are we so easily fooled? Or do we just want to believe that psychics are real; that there are some people who are especially gifted in seeing the unseen and knowing the unknown? Whatever the reason, our belief in psychics, mediums, and clairvoyants is as old as the hills; it's as if we're hard-wired to believe in unexplained mysteries and those who we'd like to believe can explain them for us.
There are still plenty of cultures where belief in people with paranormal abilities is widespread and commonplace, while here in the west, we tend to marginalize those who believe that there's more to life than meets the eye (at least in public)...
But the fact is that psychics are here to stay: despite what we may say in public, a large number of us apparently either believe that psychics are real or at least are willing to suspend our disbelief long enough to pick up the phone and make that call.
Why do I say this? Take a look at the TV listings: Psychic at Large, Psychic Witness, Psychic Investigators, and the list goes on and on.
If you take TV as a measure of what the viewing public is interested in, the sheer number of shows with "psychic" in the title (not to mention all the other shows that feature paranormal themes) shows that there's a huge interest in psychic phenomena today.
Not so long ago, the "Psychic Friends Network" was the target of ridicule by both comedians and intellectuals, as were those of us who may have been inclined to seek out psychic advice when we hit a bump in the road of life.
Now, though, famous readers and celebrity psychics are the subject of serious scientific studies, have their own TV shows, and have widespread support from the most unlikely places.
Here's something that I found pretty eye-opening: The people MOST likely to call a psychic hotline are women between the ages of 25-55 who are college-educated and working in a professional career.
Not exactly the profile of a bunch of "rubes", is it? And what are they calling to get advice about? Love and romance.
Believe it or not, the biggest audience for psychic readings are ordinary people like you and me who are looking for a little guidance in finding their soulmate, or even those who'd just like to get some assurance that their current partner is really "the one" for them...
