How to Decorate a Porch With a Birthday Party Theme
- 1). Decide on the overall theme of the birthday party. Discuss with the birthday person their likes and dislikes. You may choose to go with something they really like, such as race cars for a small child. You can also use the person's favorite color as a base for the design.
- 2). Hang something from the eves, such as lights, small lanterns or streamers, to instantly add ambiance. Make a string of popcorn, for example, or tie small trinkets to it that remind you of the person.
- 3). Make a banner (or purchase one at your local party store) to hang up. It can be as simple as "Happy Birthday" or as complicated as you making an entire poster from scratch. Suggestions include pictures of your loved one or having everyone sign the poster.
- 4). Add balloons to make the place a little more festive. Blow them up and then tape them carefully to the eves or porch furniture. You can also go to your local party store and get balloons with helium in them to tie to your banister.
- 5). Consider stringing lights if your party will go into the evening. Place them in lattice work and plants or string them on the roof of the porch. Decide on white lights or purchase an array of them. In addition to providing a little bit of light, they will look beautiful and festive.
