How to Print a Serial Number on Plastic
- 1). Select the size and type of lettering in which you want to print the serial number. Choose a highly legible font for printing serial numbers.
- 2). Print out the numbers in a line on an A4-size piece of acetate. Cut out all of the areas of each number that you want to print to create a stencil. Put cardboard under the area on which you are working.
- 3). Cover the work surface with newspaper to protect it. Place the plastic flat on the newspaper. Put the stencil down on the plastic. Adjust the stencil until your cut-out areas are placed along one edge of the plastic.
- 4). Lower the screen down on top of the stencil. Be careful not to alter the position of the stencil. Check that there are no areas on the underside of the screen that are uncovered by the acetate stencil. Mask off any uncovered areas.
- 5). Dollop the gloss enamel ink along the top of the screen. Use a squeegee to spread the ink out down the screen. Hold the squeegee at a 45-degree angle for the best print results.
- 6). Lift the screen off the plastic from left to right. The serial number will now be printing along the chosen edge of the plastic.
- 7). Repeat Steps 4 through 6 for additional prints of the same serial number. You will not need to put ink on the screen for every print. When there is not enough ink to pull down the screen, add more ink.
