How to Put a Dance Resume Together

    • 1). Provide your contact information, such as name, address, telephone number and email address. Place this information prominently at the top of the page so that it's easily seen.

    • 2). Include your height and weight on the resume. Some parts in dance productions require dancers of a specific stature. Providing this information reduces disappointment both for you and the dance studio.

    • 3). Arrange your past roles from most recent to earlier performances. Focus on the larger roles, but more importantly, choose a diverse range of roles, especially for a general resume. If you're trying out for a specific part, tailor your resume to only include similar parts that you have danced in the past.

    • 4). Provide a list of formal training that you've completed, including the dates that you attended and the names and locations of the schools.

    • 5). List any awards or honors you have earned based on your performances, both in school and professionally.

    • 6). Offer to provide references upon request. Some places like to check references, while others aren't interested. Give them the option to ask if they want to check them. Keep a list prepared just in case.

    • 7). Include pictures of yourself during performances or in specific dance poses with your resume. Pictures can give a dance studio a glimpse into your style and poise, which can impact the decision to ask you in for an audition.
