How to Remove a Factory Stereo From a 1998 Ford F150
- 1). Disconnect the negative battery cable with your pliers. This will turn off the power supply to the radio and prevent shock.
- 2). Pull off the center air vent panel (surrounding the radio) and let it hang. Use a trim tool to pry the panel off (it's attached by five clips). Do not unplug the airbag shut-off switch.
- 3). Insert the hook tools into the radio holes. Push the hooks out, while simultaneously pulling the radio toward you. This will release the radio from its factory mount.
- 4). Unplug the factory wiring harness. Then unplug the antenna cable. Unplug the amplifier cable (if equipped).
