Types of Fundraising Ideas

Whether you are raising money to support a local charity or to purchase new supplies for a school or office, a fundraiser can make your goal obtainable. Fundraisers can also help bring students or employees together and instill a sense of community bonding. Depending on the amount of money and time you have to invest in planning your fundraiser, there are several different types of fundraisers to consider. - Have several employees or parents volunteer to make baked goods at home to bring to work to sell. Cookies, brownies, muffins and cupcakes are several different items you may consider offering at your bake sale fundraiser. Set up the baked goods in an area that is highly trafficked to generate the maximum amount of interest. Sell the baked goods at a high enough rate that the money invested in the fundraiser will be made back and the proceeds can go toward your goal.
- A raffle is one of the easiest fundraisers to organize and it involves very little planning. Choose an item to raffle off such as a gift certificate to a popular restaurant or an MP3 player. Throughout the fundraiser, sell raffle tickets at anywhere from one to several dollars each. At the end of the fundraiser, choose a ticket at random and award the raffle item to the winner. The money you make selling tickers should ideally offset the cost of the item being raffled and will generate a profit for your fundraiser.
- A picnic or barbecue will bring people together to socialize, eat and raise money. Hold the picnic at a public gathering place such as a school or park. If the picnic is for a company fundraiser, open the event up to families of employees. Sell drinks, hot dogs and hamburgers at a markup rate to generate profit.
- If the fundraiser is to benefit a company with a strict dress code policy, an office dress-down day can raise money while providing employees the chance to wear casual clothing to work. Plan a day where every employee who donates a set amount of money to the fundraiser can wear jeans or other casual clothing to work. If hosting this fundraiser for a school, pick an item that is typically against dress code but is still modest that students will be allowed to wear, such as hats or sandals.
