Indoor Planting Gifts
- A handsome or simply functional gardening journal is a helpful gift. Indoor plants can be recorded to keep track of growth, problems and schedules. A journal can be especially helpful if the gardener is planting a multitude of seedlings, as it can help him remember when to transplant and pinch back. The gardener can also use the journal to record his thoughts.
- Give a minigreenhouse for a windowsill or a slightly larger version for a table or the floor. Greenhouses vary in price according to quality of construction. Especially for indoor gardeners who live in cool climates, a greenhouse can provide much-needed warmth for seedlings and small plants.
- Present the indoor planting enthusiast with a book to add to her library. Choose a book that is specific to her favorite plant or a new version of a plant encyclopedia. A subscription to a gardening magazine is another option. She will think of you every time a new magazine arrives.
- Purchase a coiled hose that attaches to the kitchen sink. This handy tool can be used to water houseplants and seedlings without transporting everything to the countertop. An indoor hose typically comes in a length of 50 feet with an attached wand that can spray a fine mist or a solid stream.
- Grow lights provide the necessary light spectrum for indoor plants when there isn't enough natural light. Plant lights can be mounted on an adjustable stand or shelving. Include a timer that can be adjusted to turn the lights on and off so that the plants get the right amount of light alternated with darkness to mimic what they would receive in a more natural environment.
