How to Set Up Rear Speakers
- 1). Determine the final seating arrangement as this will impact the placement of the surround speakers.
- 2). Place the surrounds to the side from 90 to 110 degrees from the listener's ears. If surround back channels are used, these should be arrayed from 135 to 150 degrees behind the main listening position. All four surrounds in this case should be the same distance from the listening position; ideally at a 3-foot minimum.
- 3). Enter the receiver or processor's setup menu so that the proper size is set for the surround speakers. If they are physically small, then "Small" should be the setting. This will re-direct low bass to the system's subwoofer. If they are full-range (20 Hertz to 20 kiloHertz), they should be set to "Large." Consult the unit's manual for specifics on entering the menus and making the relevant changes.
