Are Men and Women Different?
Do you think women are complicated? Well, understanding men is not a piece of cake either. The difference lies in how the two genders are wired differently: biologically and psychologically. You may have often heard the clichéd statement, "All guys think alike." But do they really?

Evaluate your husband, brother, son, or boyfriend. Are they like the typical men? Or do you find them dramatically different in emotional, psychological, or physical makeup?

The Stereotypical Male
The media often stereotypes men as chauvinists, with bloated egos, and low emotional maturity. Husbands are portrayed as beer guzzling, sports fanatics, who if given a choice, would happily live on the couch, watching TV. Fathers are projected as fire-breathing dragons, overprotective of their little girls. Boyfriends are prejudged as two-timing cheats, who are forever looking towards greener pastures. And presumably, all men have an affliction towards gizmos and gadgets. Men are simply boys with more expensive toys.

Scientists and psychologists agree that men and women have different brain conditioning that allows them to think differently. Men and women have different cognitive abilities. They also have different emotional capacities. So in a large number of cases, the stereotypes may be true.

Understanding Men
Though we know that many of the attributes that are related to men are true, we cannot make a sweeping statement about how the male mind works. I know of many men who are empathetic towards women's issues. They are good listeners and great conversationalists. Likewise, there are many women out there who take pride in not asking for directions to a place. And some of them are even addicted to cars and football.

Whenever you hear your friend whine about her callous boyfriend, you may be tempted to tell her, "It's a guy thing. You'll get used to it." But not all guys are callous or insensitive. They can be quite caring and nurturing.
