How to Creatively Package Homemade Gifts
- 1). Make small scrapbooks using pictures of your children. Tie a medium-width ribbon around the album, and place it in a photo-safe box. Instruct the recipient to use the box to store photographs that they would like to have placed in an album, and offer to create that album for them as a gift for next year.
- 2). Use wood to create alphabet or number blocks for a small child, or make both. Make a wooden box, with just enough space to fit all of the blocks, to package the gift in and for the recipient to use as storage. Stencil or stamp a design that the child will like onto the top of the box. Do not wrap the box, but tie a wide ribbon around the box after it has dried.
- 3). Sew a quilt and matching curtains for a baby's room. Lay the quilt out flat, and fold the curtains. Place the curtains in the middle of the quilt. Fold the quilt up like gift wrap. Tie a wide ribbon around the quilt, adding a small toy with a handle for decoration.
- 4). Knit matching gloves or mittens, a hat and a scarf. Lay the scarf out flat, and place the hat and gloves or mittens in the center. Put a couple of packets of hot cocoa with marshmallows on top of these, and wrap the scarf around them. Tie the scarf closed with natural raffia tied around a couple of pine cones.
- 5). Build a wooden quilt rack for a wall. Lay out a big homemade quilt, and place the rack in the center. Wrap the quilt around the rack, and place a quilted pillow on top. Wrap everything with a wide ribbon and attach pair of homemade slippers on top, rather than a bow.
- 6). Use your favorite craft medium, such as plastic canvas, to make a new ornament every year for each of your children. Place these in a homemade wooden box, wrapped in acid-free tissue paper. Give the ornaments and storage boxes as gifts when your children celebrate their first Christmas in their own homes.
