Irish Restaurants & Pubs in Schaumburg, Illinois
- The building the John Barleycorn restaurant is housed in has a long history. Built in 1890, it saw many tenants, including an Irish immigrant who ran a saloon, a Chinese laundry which served as a front for bootleggers, and a Dutchman who called it the John Barleycorn Memorial Pub. The name is derived from the barley used in malt liquor. The current pub hosts live events every weekend, football on all the TVs and a weekend all-you-can-eat-brunch buffet. The pub is also available for private parties and is open until 3:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. John Barleycorn boasts an extensive appetizer menu, several gourmet burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, and wraps. They also have dinner fare featuring steaks, chicken, pasta and a wine list.

The menu features starters, soups, salads, steaks, chops, chicken, burgers, sandwiches, and a kid's menu. Special events are planned for Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day.
