    Sales Channel Network

    • Netgear network products such as routers, switches, and appliances are sold primarily through a sales channel network which includes online retailers, traditional retailers, value-added resellers, direct market resellers and broadband service providers in the United States, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Middle East. Netgear's main retail competitors are D-Link and Linksys. Its largest markets are the United States and the United Kingdom, from where it receives 38 percent and 52 percent of its revenue, respectively. The fastest growing markets are Asia-Pacific and the Europe/Middle East/Africa region, where Netgear has experienced 34 percent and 28 percent growth, respectively.

    Product Range

    • Netgear is primarily focused on the networking market. The range of networking technologies that Netgear provides includes networking applications for home and office use as well as wired and wireless networking technologies. Below are some of their most popular products on the market.

    ProSafe Switches

    • The ProSafe switch range is designed for the business sector and is a close and cost-effective rival of D-Link and Linksys counterpart products. One of the more popular ProSafe switch models is the 8 Port Gigabit Switch GS108. Some problems that users have reportedly encountered with this product include random reboots and random port failure. Since May 2007, limited lifetime warranties are offered to the original buyer for all ProSafe products.

    Network Appliances

    • Netgear also has various network appliances such as wired and wireless VPN firewalls and managed switches which are all marketed to the business sector. The VPN firewalls compete with Linksys in the SMB and SoHo market along with software distributions such as Untangle, SmoothWall, and m0n0wall. The managed switches compete with 3 Com and HP ProCurve Networking.

    Network Attached Storage

    • Netgear also carries premium NAS devices or storage hardware under the brand ReadyNAS. In this line, it competes with HP and Buffalo. Netgear also offers an integrated online backup solution called the ReadyNAS Vault which the company introduced in March 2009.
